Veronica Marsden
Tri Fit Co-President
In 1978, Veronica was involved in a federally funded research project to evaluate the return on investment of workplace fitness and health promotion programs. Veronica’s role in the project was to design a model Canadian employee fitness program at the experimental company – The Canada Life Assurance Company in Toronto. Thirty-two years later, organizations are still looking at the Canada Life program as a successful workplace model. Canada Life remains one of Tri Fit’s clients.
Veronica received a BA in French literature from the University of Victoria and a B.Sc in Kinesiology from the University of Ottawa.
Veronica’s primary roles with Tri Fit are in the areas of consulting, marketing and business development. She continues as well to be active in the day-to-day operations of the organization supporting Tri Fit’s current clients ensuring that their programs meet and exceed expectations and targets.
Veronica has consulted with numerous organizations to develop a business case for a healthy workplace strategy. She has worked with many of these organizations right through to successful project implementation. She has also worked in partnership with many organizations to develop innovative health promotion tools and programs. Some of the organizations she has worked with in this capacity include the National Quality Institute and ParticipACTION.
Veronica has spoken internationally on the topic of workplace wellness including work in Jamaica for the Ministry of Health. She has served on numerous committees, task forces and boards. She was the first chairperson of the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Health Promotion Task Force and has served as an Advisory Board member of Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Exercise Science’s and Health Promotion degree program and on the Board of Directors of the Brampton Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity.
Veronica has sat on provincial and federal task forces and published in a variety of international journals including the Work and Wellbeing Quarterly, Employee Health & Productivity, The Canadian HR Reporter, Working Well and the Irish Journal of Health Promotion.
In 1999 Veronica was honored at the annual Health Work and Wellness Conference in Vancouver for her leadership and contribution to the field of organizational wellness in Canada.
Veronica exemplifies wellness in every aspect of her life. She is an avid runner, yoga enthusiast and cyclist. She has twice participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a fund raiser for the Princess Margaret Hospital.
